2001 Meetings

2001 Rules Sub-committee Meeting
The CIVA Rules Sub-Committee met in Burgos, Spain on Monday, 18 June, on the day prior to the beginning of the XXI World Aerobatic Championships. Sub-Committee members Jiri Kobrle (Czech Republic), John Gaillard (South Africa), Alan Cassidy (UK), Dominique Roland (France), and Howard Stock (USA) were in attendance with CIVA President Mike Heuer chairing the meeting.
The Sub-Committee considered proposals received from the Chief Judge of WAC 2000, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. These proposals were submitted to CIVA by the 1 March 2001 deadline. The full text of these proposals can be found under the "Documents" section of this website.
The following recommendations will be made by Sub-Committee to the plenary meeting of CIVA which will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 3-4 November 2001. Members of the aerobatic community are invited to direct your comments on these recommendations to your national delegates to CIVA. Proposed Programme Q sequences were not reviewed by Sub-Committee as the selection of the final sequences will be made at the plenary.
British Proposals
The Sub-Committees recommend the adoption of all proposals with minor wording changes.
Chief Judge Proposals
The Sub-Committee agreed that proposals #1 and #3 has already been incorporated in the rules but should be rigidly enforced.
Proposal #2 is recommended. This proposal would permit the regulations to be varied during Championships if there is total agreement within the International Jury and all Chief Delegates of the teams.
Proposal #7 with regards to contest paperwork is recommended but the representative of CIVA will be from the Contest Organization Group or the CIVA Liaison Officer (LO) in the case of the World Air Games.
French Proposals
Proposal #1 to include the CAP 231 in Advanced competitions has been previously approved by the Bureau of CIVA in accordance with the authority given it to do so by plenary in November 2000.
Proposal to include new figures in the FAI Aerobatic Catalogue is recommended.
German Proposals
Regarding the CAP 231, see “French Proposals” above. No action was taken on the proposal to include the Extra 300 in the Advanced list of aircraft as the Bureau will make that decision soon.
Italian Proposals
While the Italian proposals are not recommended by Sub-Committee, it should be noted that CIVA will take a decision this November regarding the inclusion of Programme 4 results in the final standings after experience is gained with the new judging criteria which will be in effect at this World Championships.
Spanish Proposals
Not recommended.
Swiss Proposals
These proposals regarding CIVA nominating procedures were not appropriate for Sub-Committee and will be considered at the plenary in November as these involve changes to CIVA "Internal Regulations".
USA Proposals
The US proposal on judging criteria for tailslides is recommended.
The US proposal to include certain rolling turns in the Unlimited Unknown approved list of figures is recommended.
