Robert „Bob“ Skinner (South Africa), new CIAM President.The CIAM Plenary Meeting 2008 was held on the 28-29th March 2008 in Lausanne, Switzerland. After 40 years of service, CIAM President Sandy Pimenoff (Finland) declined the nomination of the Plenary Meeting. The Plenary Meeting had three candidates from which to elect a new President: Robert Skinner (South Africa), David G. Brown (USA) and Gerhard Wöbbeking (Germany). After two rounds of voting Robert „Bob“ Skinner (South Africa) was elected CIAM President. The Delegates gave a standing ovation when Mr Pimenoff congratulated the new President.
After the election of the CIAM President, the voting for the three CIAM Vice Presidents was held. David G. Brown (USA was elected 1st CIAM Vice President, Gerhard Wöbbeking (Germany) as 2nd CIAM Vice President and András Reé (Hungary) as 3rd CIAM Vice President. Massimo Semoli (Italy) was elected as CIAM Secretary and Mrs Jo Halman (United Kingdom) was elected as CIAM Technical Secretary. CIAM Assistant Secretary, Hartmut Siegmann (Germany), declined the nomination but will continue to work on the CIAM Website.
The F2 Subcommittee Chairman Laird G. "Doc" Jackson retired after 32 years in post and Bengt-Olof Samuelsson (Sweden) was elected as the new Sub-committee Chairman.
