FAI is awarding every year a number of prestigious Astronautic Medals and Diplomas, to recognize outstanding achievements that have greatly contributed to the cause of Space. These awards are defined in the ByLaws to the FAI Statutes. They are:

Two documents, Section 8 and the General Section, combined make up the complete Sporting Code for Astronautics. Chapter 6 of the General Section contains general rules on records which are applicable to all disciplines. Section 8 presents the rules specific to astronautic records. ICARE is responsible for drafting and maintaining Section 8.

Each FAI Member (National Airsport Controls) may nominate a delegate and alternate delegate to ICARE. The current list of delegates can be consulted here.
