The Event Development Service (EDS) was the result of the 2006 CIA
restructuring.
The objectives of EDS are:
- To provide a service to organisers which will assist them in the planning, operation and
evaluation of their event
- To ensure the integrity of every sanction event in respect to:
- safety
- fairness
- financial honesty
- the good name of the FAI and the CIA
Responsibilities
Detail information on EDS can be found in the CIA Internal
Regulations document which can be found through the DOCUMENTS
web page. In brief the purposes and responsibilities of EDS are:
- With the CIA Secretary, collect all sanction fees and control all related expenses.
- Seek sanctioning opportunities
- Maintain and publish CIA Sanctioning Guideline documents
- Provide event planning assistance, as required, to any NAC (or balloon federation, club
or other organization authorized by an NAC) wishing to hold a CIA sanctioned event
by assigning Event Advisors.
- Review all sanctioning applications and report to the CIA on their suitability for
acceptance
- Insure the technical quality and integrity of each sanctioned event
- To negotiate the FAI Organisers Agreement with event organisers
- Insure that organizers are continually aware of the public relations requirements, event
reporting commitments.
