REPORT OF THE MEETING OF

THE CIA PUBLIC RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT SUBCOMMITTEE ON 2 MARCH 2000

Actions Arising from 1999 Plenary (refer to Minutes)

Item 21.1 Approval for expenditure

FAI and CIA medals and certificates have been purchased.
CIA Patches have been purchased
CIA silk scarves to be printed by May 00
CIA information brochure to be printed by Jun 00

Item 21.12    CIA Airsport Promotion Award

No action has been taken. To be refered to new media WG Chairman as required by the Plenary.

Reports.

Reports from the Logo and Products and LTAE WG are attached. No report was received from the Media WG.

Logo and Products

Organisers are not returning of CIA Anthems and Flags. This is to be raised at the plenary. Letters to organisers have been drafted and will be used from 2000, copies are attached.

New ideas for merchandise and brand promotion material are being discussed including, mapboards.

It was also recommended that the Rules SC add the requirement for the CIA Logo to appear on basket banners, task sheets and other briefing material and targets.

Ties and patches are to be available for sale at the Plenary from Martine Besnainou.

LTAE WG

Youth camps have continued in Germany and USA.

A new web site is being developed for the Gordon Bennett race.

Media WG

Pilot profiles have been collected on over 100 participants at sanctioned events last year.  Market research on the impact of ballooning on the public has been completed and is available to assist organisers seek sponsors.

Motions for the Plenary

Motion 1. "That expenditure up to 3000SF be approved for 1000 CIA Patches, 20 Anthem Cassettes, 10 Flags and a quantity of ribbons for CIA medals."

Motion 2. "That the PR&D Subcommittee review the Name and Logo of the CIA in order to make a recommendation to the 2001 plenary"
