The first twelve months since Australia gained the right to host the 2004 World in Mildura has been devoted to planning and location/allocation of resources.

Proper management of people resources is a requirement for a successful event and volunteers make up the major component of any event.

To that end the MIBF has formed a Volunteers working group and is well advanced in the development of its Human Resource Management Plan (HRM), job lists and descriptions. This work is being applied to both technical and non technical areas of the event staff.

The final draft of the HRM is due to be presented to the MIBF for consideration in May 2002

Financial Resources are moving forward with contracts signed with the State Government of Victoria and also the Local Government (Mildura Rural City Council).

Last year a brief for sponsorship seekers was drawn up, and potential sponsorship seekers are currently under consideration with an appointment expected during March 2002. Other fundraising initiatives are also planned for 2002.

Other groups already formed and meeting on a regular basis are the Administration & Finance, Promotion, Competition, Site Services and Safety working groups with the Media & PR, Marketing and Fiesta Operations working groups still to be formed.

Strategic planning will continue during 2002 with the first stage of preparations in place by July 2002 in readiness for the Pre Worlds in 2003.

A schedule of dates has been determined for the events and invitation process and is set out below.
