PR and Development Subcommittee Meeting Minutes, March 8-9, 2002

1 . Arthur Westworth sent his apologies for absence.

2. Martine Besnainou and Rutger Coucke will present the CD that has all the information on organizing an event.
        The Logo and PR committees were tasked with simplifying the CIA logo. Martine and Rutger will also include the design changes and artwork for discussion.

Medals for upcoming Category 1 Events:	$500.00
Diplomas	$100.00

3. Markus Haggeney presented his request (see attached copies) for the Lighter than Air Education. He would like to ask the CIA to approve CHF 850. to help with expenses for the hot air balloon camp that Germany is hosting.

a. Also included is a report from the USA Junior Balloonists education program

4. Claude Sauber presented his ideas (see attached copies) to expand media coverage and information.

Recommendations of the Media Working Group:

Every delegate should designate his country's Media and Public Relations

representative by June 1, 2002 and give the name and address to the Media

Working Group: csauber(a-)binsfeld.lu This person should then be the national

contact for the CIA Media Working Group and the PR & D SC.

The Media Working Group and the PR & D SC should put into place a general information platform on the CIA homepage where any general information on ballooning is collected. This platform should promote and assist the Media and Public Relations responsible so as any journalist in the provision of media coverage for CIA sanctioned events.

Claude Sauber will email each delegate a press release within the week of the CIA Plenary. This will be in English and will need translation and dispatching to local and national press by the delegate or appointed media representative.

5. We have most of the national anthems of all the countries and we will be making CDs to be part of the package you receive when organizing your event.

6. The PR/Media has written a short synopsis of the 2002 Plenary. This synopsis is given to you for translation and then given to your balloon federation to be included in their newsletter and or used as a press release. There are a couple of changes that you will need to complete before translating and giving the information. Also please include the 2003 officer information.
