The FAI World Grand Prix

The FAI World Grand Prix Project aims at :

developing and popularising Air Sports as an image of precision and accuracy, technical performance, individual achievement and team spirit.
offering a testing bench and a practice field for advanced technologies.
arousing vocations for aeronautical careers by attracting young people to dynamic and spectacular events.

To reach these goals, an FWGP Event has to be:

A development tool for competitions beyond classical aerobatics
A promotional instrument for FAI
A fundraising product
Open to any spectacular air sport

The FWGP Coordinating Committee

In October 2002 the 95th FAI General Conference established the FAI World Grand Prix Coordinating Committee having as its main mission to:

promote the FAI World Grand Prix program
co-ordinate the overall effort of the FAI World Grand Prix program.
advise and assist the FAI Executive Board in WGP-related matters.

FAI World Grand Prix Operating Structure

While FAI retains the final authority and all rights to the event concept, it has contracted all FWGP operational activities to a private company.

The contracted company is therefore entitled to negotiate agreements with authorities, organizers and participants, as well as to define the detailed event format and conditions of participation within the limits specified by the FAI sporting code and the directives established by the FWGP-Coordinating Committee.

Application to host a FWGP Event

An application to host an event must be made by a Promoter directly to the HAUTE VOLTIGE® Head Office who will co-ordinate with the parties concerned.
