20 balloons to participate in the 57th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett

Logo GB13Following the call for registration which ended on 15 February, the countries participating in the 57th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett are now known, as well as the number of balloons representing each country. 20 gas balloons from 10 nations will take part in the event which will take place from 22 to 31 August 2013. The start point for the race is in Nancy, France.


2012 Tochigi Hot Air Balloon International Championship


The Tochigi Hot Air Balloon International Championship (FAI Category 1 event) will take place in the Japanese prefecture of Tochigi from 20 to 25 November 2012.
This event is the only FAI Category 1 event in the world with Observers.


57th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett: FAI flag handed over to Organiser

President hands over FAI flag 2During the closing ceremony of the 56th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett in Ebnat-Kappel (Switzerland), FAI President John Grubbström (right) handed over the FAI flag to Didier Sartelet, town mayor of Heillecourt and Vice President of the urban community of Greater Nancy (France), where the next edition of the Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett will be held next year from 22 to 31 August 2013.


56th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett


The Gordon Bennett Cup is the most famous aviation event in the world. The objective of the race is simple: to fly the furthest distance from the start (Ebnat-Kappel, Switzerland) using the open airspace available.

This international gas balloon competition was initiated in 1906 by the adventurer James Gordon Bennett. This race is the 56th, 106 years after the first one.
The winning country has the right to stage the race two years later.
In 2010 the Swiss team won the race with a straight line distance flight of 2434 km from Bristol, England in 59 hours.


2012 LUXGSM - World Balloon Trophy

LUXGSMThe 2012 LUXGSM - World Balloon Trophy (FAI Category 1 event) took place in Echternach, Luxemburg, from 11 to 15 July.
The CIA Logger was used during the competition.


17th FAI European Hot Air Balloon Championship

83 pilots from all European Countries are going to compete in the 17th FAI European Hot air Balloon Championship.

The Official list includes 8 Scorer, 7 Target team chief, 16 Target team members.


55th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett


The launch of the 55th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennettwill take place in Gap-Tallard in the Hautes Alpes on September 10th or 11th 2011.

105 years after the first race which took off from the Tuileries Gardens in front of 100 000 spectators, Gap-Tallard will, for the first time ever, host the oldest air race in the world, the famous Gordon Bennett Cup in Ballooning.


54th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett - International Gas Ballon Race

Up to 21 teams from 12 countries around the world will compete in the 54th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett. Taking off at dusk from a site near Bristol, the team which flies the furthest distance from the start point wins the race.


53rd Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett

The “53rd Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett”, the famous international FAI aeronautical race, was launched Saturday evening from the Vessy Sports Center in Geneva (Switzerland).

16 gas-balloon teams from 8 nations participate in this race which started with a dramatic night-launch in perfect weather conditions.
