More than 100 microlight and paramotor pilots are in England this week, 20-27 August 2016, competing in the FAI World Microlight and Paramotor Championships. Pilots from 21 countries have converged on the local airfield of Popham, an hour southwest of London, to compete for separate World Championship medals and titles across several disciplines, in both paramotoring and microlights.

A three day workshop took place this week in Wroclaw, Poland, as part of the preparation for the World Games 2017. The attendees included the Event Directors and Officials of the three disciplines selected to the World Games 2017, FAI Member Representatives from France and Hungary, the Director of the Wroclaw Aeroclub and FAI Head Office staff.

The second FAI European Paramotor Slalom Championships opened with a short ceremony on 11 June in Bornos, Andalusia, Spain where the competition is being held from 9-19 June 2016.

The FAI international jury selected the winning paintings of the 2016 FAI Young Artists Contest, a competition which every year honours the best paintings from youngsters in three age categories from 7 to 16 years old.

The United States has finished at the top of the medal table at the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015, with 7 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze. USA led a tight battle with France which just missed the top by 1 gold medal and takes second place with 6 gold, 10 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Russia came third with 6 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze.

You'd be forgiven for thinking 15-year-old Janejira Chuynoey is here to support a family member in the paramotoring competition.
At just 53kg, the petite Thai girl looks like she can barely lift the 30kg Polini Thor paramotor next to her. But when its time to gear up for the start, the smiley school girl's eyes narrow into competitive focus as she pulls on her helmet.
Chuynoey, or Gege to her friends, may be the youngest competitor at the FAI World Air Games in Dubai, but don't be fooled by her playful smile, sparkly mobile phone or cutely coiffed ponytail. She's here to win.

The FAI World Air Games officially kicked off with a bang last night, as the 3,000-strong audience at the Opening Ceremony were wowed with an extravaganza of dancing, zip-line performances and fireworks.
Dropping in on the open-air stage, performers dressed as skydivers and paramotor pilots flew over the crowd suspended on wires, taking the astounded audience on a theatrical flight over glorious Dubai.
