Oyvind Ellefsen
Øyvind started flying hang gliders in 1996, in the city of Tromsø in the far north of Norway. He soon realized that 9 months of winter is not compatible with a burning wish to fly hang gliders, and moved south to Oslo where he currently lives with his wife. He has a technical background from electronics and radar systems, and currently works in the IT industry as a consultant. Øyvind also flies Paragliders, Sailplanes and Ultralights, he has been a hang gliding instructor since 1998, and running hang gliding courses since 1999. He has been competing in hang gliding competitions since 1999, participated in his first World Championships in Spain in 2001 and has been very active on the international competition circuit since then. He’s also been meet director and organizer for most of the cat 2 and national comps in Norway for the last 10 years. He also has extensive experience with scoring as well as the rules and regulations for hang gliding competitions. Øyvind have been attending CIVL meetings since 2004, and is active in hang gliding and scoring subcommittees. He has been a board member in the Norwegian hang and paragliding federation for 9 years, was elected Vice president for the Norwegian NAC in 2009, and currently still holds this position.
