I started jumping on a round canopy C-9 back in 1980 and got hooked straight away. I turned to competition in 1983 and kept doing that till 2003. I have represented the Netherlands at WPC’s from 1987 to 2003 in Freestyle Skydiving, FS-4, FS-8 and CF-4 rotation.
I have also been Jury member and FAI controller on several occasions. One of the highligts was being IPC liaison at the 2013 World Games in Cali, Colombia. That was such a nice event, showing the promotional potential of parachuting and canopy piloting.
I have jumped at really nice places like the North Pole, the Dead Sea, the Efes Amphitheatre, Iguaçu Falls, the Star Wars movie set, Brasília and Canberra parliaments, just to name a few. What a great sport it is!
When asked what he felt was his greatest achievement; what had given him the most pleasure, he answered « answering that question could imply I have reached my top. Just look at how wingsuiting is taking off. I still think there are challenges ahead so I keep pursuing them staying in the sport.
