Assistant Regional Technical Officer/Ops NSW 1985 –1987 Regional Technical Officer/Operations, NSW 1987 – 1990. (Responsible for safety, operations and instructing etc. in NSW) As RTO/Ops I was authorised as Course Director for instructor training in NSW and given categorising authority during this period of intense review of instructor training methods. Chairman of the Operation Panel (National responsibility for Operations, safety and instructor training), and member of the Gliding Federation Executive, 1991 – 1998 Received the W. P Iggulden Award for outstanding services to the Gliding Federation of Australia, 1996 Vice president of the Gliding Federation of Australia – 2001 President of the Gliding Federation of Australia, 2002 – 2005 Immediate Past President, GFA, 2006 President of the Australian Sport Aviation Confederation (Australian NAC), 2005 – 2008 Life Member of the Gliding Federation of Australia, 2006 Chair of the Technical Committee, Australian Sport Aviation Confederation, 2008 to date Member Standards Consultative Committee, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, (Australian Regulator), the Airspace Consultative Forum (Office of Airspace Regulation, CASA) and ASTRA (Australian Strategic Air Traffic Management Group) representing Sport Aviation. From 1991 on I have been responsible for negotiation on airspace issues, firstly for the GFA, and then for all of sport aviation, on behalf of ASAC. This combined with my professional qualifications provided considerable experience in hazard modelling and risk management in airspace matters, and gliding operations more generally. At the same time I was heavily involved in negotiations with CASA regarding matters relating to self administration, firstly of gliding and then, on behalf of all of Sport Aviation.
