FAI Recommended Museum : K.A.U. Aerospace Museum

The museum collects and displays historical materials in the area of aerospace science and technology, domestic and international. The most systematic and concrete explanation is provided on the principles and knowledge related to aerospace science and technology.

The museum was opened on August 6, 2004 in an effort to enhance public understanding of the aerospace sciences which will constitute the foundation for the development of national aerospace industry.


INDOOR EXHIBITION AREA
The indoor exhibition area is about 750 square meters.
On the first floor, several theme zones are provided for Aerospace History Flight Simulation, Virtual Reality Experience, Motion Base Simulation, Multimedia Education, and Model Aircraft Display.
The theme on the second floor is the ‘Space’: history of rockets, principles of rocket propulsion, space science and exploration.
The interior was finished with modern concept and a sense of art.


OUTDOOR EXHIBITION AREA
The outdoor exhibition area is about 1,500 square meters. Several airplanes are exhibited in the outdoor exhibition area including the first civil airplane (L-16) registered (HL1001) in Korea, T-37 trainer jet and F-5B fighter Plane used in the Air Force, Fuji FA-200 light plane, T-41 trainer and experimental planes built by KAU students (X-4 and X-5).


EDUCATION
As a specialized educational institution in aerospace science and engineering, KAU created virtually all the contents, including multimedia ones, which covers most recent facts and information. The systematic arrangement of the displayed materials as well as creative contents are praised by museum visitors. The museum will establish the fame as one of the most typical places to visit in Goyang City, Korea.
