Don't fail an anti-doping test just because of paperwork! As an FAI competitor, you may be tested for doping purposes during an FAI event.
If you regularly take medication prescribed by your doctor and this medication is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Prohibited List, you need to get a form called a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) filled out by your doctor. International level athletes must send the form to the FAI Secretariat, National level athletes send it to their National Air Sport Control.

Last December, we announced in FAI News 16/07 that international broadcasting of the first "Airsports World" TV Series had started, and that the series was available in DVD format. This 13-episode TV series, featuring most of the major FAI World Championships of 2007, reached over 250 million homes, and attracted many new viewers to air sports.

The 1st Torino Sailplane Grand Prix was held from 15 to 21 June at the Torino Aeritalia Airport. The winner of this Qualifying GP, a Test Event for the World Air Games 2009, was the Italian pilot Stefano Ghiorzo.
After the first two competition days had to be cancelled (rain), four daily tasks were successfully achieved (Photos / Results) and allowed gathering precious experience on the flight conditions around Turin.

During the recent 2008 Sportaccord Congress in Athens, the FAI President and Secretary General were invited by the Greek Minister for Sport to discuss air sports in Greece and the Icaria flame-lighting ceremony at the opening ceremony of the World Air Games in Turin in 2009. On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June, test events for Aeromodelling (Photos) were held at the Torino Aeritalia Airport, the main venue for the World Air Games 2009, and at the Palaruffini indoor venue.
Rain showers prevented the conclusion of all the “Hand-Thrown Gliders” competitions, but the whole programme of “Artistic Aerobatics” and “AeroMusicals” events was completed.

In exactly one year, on Saturday 6 June 2009, the opening ceremony of the World Air Games 2009 will be held in Turin.
Last Saturday, almost a year after the organization of the World Air Games 2009 had been awarded to the city of Turin, test events for Parachuting, Aerobatics and Helicopters (Photos) were held at the Torino Aeritalia Airport, the main venue of the 2009 Games.

FORTY YEARS AT THE HELM - SANDY PIMENOFF RETIRES
Sandy PIMENOFF (FIN) brought to an end a remarkable 40 years as CIAM President at the FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM) Annual Plenary meeting on 28 and 29 March in Lausanne. He successfully led the Commission through a long period marked by great changes.
