Gliding World Champions

Gliding World Championships have been held - normally every 2 years, except for the war years - since 1937. World Championships for Juniors (up to 25 years of age) were introduced in 1999, and Women's World Championships were held for the first time in 2001. More recently, in 2005, the World Sailplane Grand Prix was started. The following tables list the world champions in each of the categories, together with the following information: the country of the pilot, the championships class, the glider type, the location of the championship event and the year. The lists are in reverse chronological order; in the case of the unrestricted category, a separate list in alphabetical order of the pilots' name is also provided.
