From Helsinki to Cape Townn
Tapio Savolainen and Anssi Soila are planning a flight from Helsinki to Cape Town in a Stemme S10-VT motor glider. The objective is to use as little fuel as possible on the 13000 km trip, by making use of soaring flight whenever the conditions allow it.

Tapio Savolainen, a professional airline pilot, is the Finnish delegate to the IGC and also one of the Vice-Presidents of this body. Anssi Soila is a businessman and owner of the Stemme.

The expedition will begin on August 27, and the pilots hope to reach Cape Town by October 6. Tapio has promised to keep us informed of their progress as far as possible.

NEW: Tapio's day-to-day reports are now being published in English on the site of the ILMAILU-Magazine.
