Thank you for visiting the IGC Ranking list. This is just one small part of the IGC's strategy to make competitive gliding more widespread and accessible. There are many ways in which the Ranking List may become useful, not only to the IGC but to all the participating pilots. We hope to develop the Ranking List to help make gliding more attractive to potential sponsors and accessible to a wider audience.
The Ranking List has been prepared by a number of hard working volunteers during the last three years. The original idea was taken from Jean Vuillemot's pilot-ranking list - (http://classement.vuillemot.free.fr/) Which was subsequently organised by Denis Flament as the "international pilot-ranking list", further inspiration came from the success of the Hang Gliding ranking system.
Our thanks for their efforts go to Ed Johnston, Klaus Luebke, Paul Crabb, Peter Ryder, Bostjan Oblak and in particular to Denis Flament and Keith Nicolson. Denis has contributed a great deal to the formation of the rules and philosophy of the system and Keith has completed the immense task of putting it all together as you see it now. As always in our gliding fraternity all this effort is unpaid and I hope you appreciate the work involved.
The current pilot position on the IGC Ranking List includes the results of some non-sanctioned competitions. It was necessary to include these competitions, both to prove the system and to demonstrate how these competitions affect the Ranking List. We are sorry we could not include all competitions but it was not practicable. If you would like to see your performance reflected in the Ranking List ask your competition organisers to apply to become a sanctioned competition.
The list will be updated after each competition to provide a dynamic seeding list of the worlds best glider pilots; we already have many ideas for improvements and changes but would appreciate your feedback and any contributions to the success of the Ranking List.
If you are one of the pilots appearing on the list, please go to the amend details, fill in all your relevant details and send us a photo.
World Club Class Musbach
Because of the competition class split during this competition the points allocated to the pilots below 50th position may not be the same as their actual points. Sorry but the system as written did not accommodate a result spread across two classes with separate scores.
Hahnweide
The competition rating points for the Hahnweide are lower than one would expect because we are informed it only had three competition days.
