Pilots qualified to fly in Category 1 events
06 April 2001

The list of pilots qualified (up to 31/3/2001) to fly in Category 1 evetns has now been published on the CIVL website (http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/competitions/qualified/)

To make it easier for pilots to check they are qualified for the WAG the period covers from 17 June 1998 (i.e. the 3 year qualification period prior to the start of the World Air Games, 2001). Any pilot who is not on this list and who is seeking selection as a member of their national team, should make sure they have fulfilled the qualification criteria before 31 May 2001. Paraglider pilots should be aware that for the WAG there are additional qualification criteria to those laid out in Section 7 (see http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/press_releases/2000-11-30.asp)

The results of the South African PG Nationals were not received at the time of publication and therefore some pilots who may have qualified via this competition may not appear on the list.

Please note that this list covers those pilots who are qualified as per Section 7 5.11 taking into account the the amendment which was voted on at the Plenary meeting 22-25 Feb 2001 and will be implemented from 1 May 2001 (see http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/competitions/pilot-qualifications.asp and minutes the Plenary Meeting, 2001, which can be downloaded from http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/meetings/)
