World Air Games Paragliding Selection Procedures - third round
12 April 2001
After the 2 first selection rounds 127 pilots have been accepted by the selection committee to be eligible to compete in Sierra Nevada for the Paragliding World Championship.
A certain number of pilots are on a waiting list for 3 different reasons:
- two pilots are eligible but for personal reasons they are not sure to be able to participate. They will be on the waiting list till the 30th of April, after that date either they register with entry fee paid or
they do not and their places will be re allocated.
- Nine pilots have sufficient experience but they do not meet the Section 7 top 2/3 rule. According to section 7 they can qualify till the 31st of May. Their places will be reserved till that date. If they do
not qualify by that time, their places will be re allocated accordingly.
- All the other countries which didn't give any nomination or which didn't fill in the questionnaire in spite of several reminders will be on the waiting list till the 30th of April with no priority and will be
served according to the principle first declared eligible, first served. After the 30th of April they will be considered as non competing and their places will be re allocated.
Note:
- a. The entry fees have to be paid according to the ECO 2001 conditions which includes extra charges for late entry
- b. If a country has paid more entries than allowed by the selection process, it will be reimbursed in cash on registration in Sierra Nevada to avoid unnecessary bank charges.
Re allocation of places will be granted in 3 steps.
- A. Soon after the 1st of May the vacancies due to 1 and 3 above will be distributed according to what has been decided during the 2 previous CIVL meetings in 2000 and in 2001.
- B. Soon after the 1st of June the remaining vacancies due to 2 above will be re allocated.
- C. As for the last minute defections, if we cannot find any replacement, the entry fee will not be reimbursed.
Order of re allocation one by one provided the country can enter eligible pilots according to the selection criteria:
New Zealand - Sweden - Norway - Australia - Brazil - USA - Korea - Slovenia - Spain - Sweden - Australia - Slovenia - Spain.
The countries, from ranking 11th and below that do not appear in this list, have not nominated more eligible male pilots. It is still time till the 30th of April, for these countries to nominate pilots and send the questionnaire to the selection committee.
When these 13 countries have been granted extra places, if there are still some vacancies even only one then the 5 top countries will be granted a 6th male pilot. After this stage if there are still some vacancies, the next countries will be granted a 6th male pilot one by one.
