New FAI Secretary General Appointed

Stéphane Desprez, former Competition Director of the 2008 Rugby World Cup in France, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the FAI – the World Air Sports Federation. He will formally take up his appointment in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 1st February 2010.

CIMA Plenary Meeting 2008

The FAI Commission Internationale de Micro-Aviation (CIMA) held its annual plenary meeting in Lausanne over the weekend of November 14/15.

President Tomas BACKMAN (SWE) was re-elected to serve for another year.

Decisions taken during the meeting included the selection of athletes for the World Air Games 2009 in Turin and the creation of a female class in PF1 (footlaunched solo paramotors), giving female pilots the opportunity to set world records in their own class.

 

CIMA FRAC approves Air Observer Micro Logger

The CIMA GNSS Flight Recorder Approvals Committee (FRAC) has approved the use of the Air Observer Micro Logger.

The approval document can be downloaded from the CIMA website at http://www.fai.org/microlight/flight_recorders.
