At the 106th FAI General Conference in Antalya, Turkey (19-20 October 2012), the bid by Thailand to host the 108th FAI General Conference in 2014 was unanimously approved by the FAI Members.

Coming from all around the world, contributors to aviation were celebrated at the annual FAI Awards Ceremony that took place last night in Antalya, Turkey, as part of the 106th FAI General Conference.
Ten awardees joined together in Antalya to be presented on stage with their prestigious FAI medals and diplomas by FAI President John Grubbström.
During the ceremony, the winner of the prize of the Prince Alvaro de Orleans Borbon Grant was revealed to be Todd Reichert for the "Atlas" human-powered helicoter project.

At the 2012 FAI Awards Ceremony held yesterday in Antalya, Turkey, John Dickenson was presented with the FAI Gold Air Medal by FAI President John Grubbström for his great contribution to the development of aeronautics by inventing the modern hang glider.
The FAI Gold Air Medal is the one of the two most prestigious FAI Awards together with the Gold Space Medal. It is reserved for those who have contributed greatly to the development of aeronautics by their activities, work, achievements, initiative or devotion to the cause of Aviation.

During yesterday's Awards Ceremony of the 106th FAI General Conference in Antalya, Turkey, Todd Reichert was announced to be selected as the winner of the prize of the Prince Alvaro de Orleans Borbon Grant for the project called "Atlas" Human-Powered Helicopter.

The FAI Head Office is pleased to announce that the vacant position of Assistant Sports Manager has been filled by Annick Hauser. She began with the FAI on 3 September 2012.
Annick is the first point of contact with the ASCs (Air Sports Commissions) for administrative matters. She deals with the administration of ASCs meetings as well as logistics and the publication of documents. Furthermore, she assists the FAI Senior Sports Manager Rob Hughes with his tasks and works in coordination with Secretary General Jean-Marc Badan and FAI Event Organisers.

Mr Sergi is the President of SINERGI Ltd, a management consultancy firm based in Switzerland and active in the sports industry.

The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the World Air Sports Federation, has unveiled today the signing of a long term partnership with the prestigious Swiss watch company Breitling.
Breitling, a renowned brand whose headquarters are in Grenchen, Switzerland, will become the first ever Global Partner of the FAI and will carry the status of the Official Watch of the federation.

You can download the leaflet ‘London 2012 Airspace Guide’ which contains all the necessary information to adhere to the restrictions or to avoid the zone for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The UK Government has declared repeatedly that it takes the threat of a rogue aircraft very seriously and will take measures to counter unauthorised flights within the restricted zones. The CAA leaflet is easy to understand and will help you adhere to the temporary rules during the Olympics this year.

Budding artists once again shone at the FAI Young Artists Contest, a painting competition where youngsters have the opportunity to express their talent and passion for flight.
This year’s theme “Silent Flight” proved to be particularly inspiring with 111 artists competing from 14 FAI Members countries. Although almost all air sports were featured on the paintings, ballooning and hang gliding, with the ocean as a background, were the most represented subjects. Among all the entries, many of them immediately caught the eyes of the jury, which made it a difficult task to decide on the final rankings for all of the three age categories.
