To restore all of the sections of the FAI website, we finally had to migrate all the data to a newer version of the software we are using to manage the content of our website. This migration is now completed and in addition to the central part of the FAI website which has been working for a few days (except for some links and images), most of the FAI documents can be now downloaded from the Document Center. Here is the tentative schedule for the restoration of the remaining sections of the website: 2011 championships and competitions calendar

FAI President Dr. John Grubbström had the great honour to be awarded with the Juri Gagarin Medal at the CIAM meeting that recently took place in Lausanne, Switzerland. The medal was presented by Russian Representative Andre Pomorenko on behalf of the Russian Airsports Federation in commemoration of the close association of the Russian Airsports Federation and the FAI since Yuri Gagarin's "first man in space" flight on 12th April 1961 which was recognised by the FAI as a World Record. After having had to re-install the operating system last week, the central part of the FAI website is now working (although some links and images are still missing), as well as the FAI Sporting Licence Database. The work to progressively restore other sections of the FAI website (documents, commissions, records, events, etc) will therefore be able to resume. We are sorry for any inconvenience this situation may cause and thank you for your understanding and patience. The FAI Headquarters Team Social Media success for the FAI !

A few months after deciding to jump on the bandwagon of Social Media, the FAI successfully features in all the main social media domains, whether it be with its pictures, videos or news ! While the FAI Facebook page has recently crossed the threshold of 2000 fans, the FAI Twitter account is growing steadily with more than 140 followers. What is happening on the videos front ? The Worldwide XC online Contest (WXC) now has official FAI status following a successful 2 year trial. Taking advantage of its unique position, CIVL has created the ‘official’ global online contest, allowing all hang glider and paraglider pilots worldwide to see their flights scored and ranked in a single online contest.
