Dear NAC/Competition Organiser,
The next millenium is fast approaching and CIVL are planning the future of hang gliding and paragliding competitions. The World Air Games were a great success and bids have already been received by the FAI for the 2nd World Air Games to be held in 2001.
CIVL would like to take this opportunity to invite bids to host hang gliding and paragliding Continental Championships in the year 2000. Hosts for these Continental Championships (European, Pan American, Pan Asian, Women's World HG.... etc) will be decided at the CIVL Plenary meeting in March 1998.
Championships - host nations already awarded:
1998 : PG Europeans - Spain
HG Europeans - Slovakia
Women's Worlds - Hungary
1999 : PG Worlds - Austria
HG Worlds - Italy
Potential bids should be notified as soon as possible to Noel Whittall, CIVL Secretary.
Potential host nations should refer to chapter 3 of the FAI General Section, in particular 3.8.1 and chapter 5 of Sporting Code, Section 7, Class O (hang gliders and paragliders).
Bids to host Continental Championships in the year 2000 will be voted on and awarded at the 1998 CIVL Plenary to be held Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March, at Palacio da Valencas, Sintra, Near Lisbon, Portugal. Bidders should be prepared to make a short presentation at this meeting. Further details can be obtained from Noel Whittall once notification of the bid has been received.
CIVL look forward to hearing from potential Championship hosts in the very near future.
Yours faithfully,
Sarah Fenwick
CIVL PR Co-ordinator
