Plenary meeting & treasurer needed

The CIVL Plenary meeting will take place 20th - 22nd February 2003 in Sinaia, Romania. For more information please look at http://civlpm2003.netexpress.ro

CIVL require a new treasurer to be voted on at the next Plenary meeting. If you are interested in applying please contact paula@fai.org

The Agenda and accounts will be published soon. An outline so far is for a Plenary session from 09.00 on Friday 21/02/2003 to 18.00 on Saturday 22/02/2003. Sub committees and Working Groups workshops will take place on Thursday 20/02/2003 until 17.00. The Section 7 sub Committee will be from 17.00 to 19.00. Each Chairman will produce a written report for distribution to the Plenary on Friday morning at 09.00.

A Jury and Steward Seminar with Dennis Pagen and John Aldridge will take place on Wednesday 19/02/03 from 17.00 to 19.00. Those who are interested please contact Paula Bowyer: paula@fai.org

CIVL Plenary meeting

The CIVL Plenary meeting will take place 20th - 22nd February 2003 in Sinaia, Romania. Items for the agenda must be sent to CIVL president Olivier Burghelle (olivier.bughelle@wanadoo.fr) by December 8th 2002 to ensure circulation to all delegates.

There will be a Jury & Steward training session with Dennis Pagen on Wednesday 17.00 to 19.00
Working groups will be Thursday 09.00 to 17.00
Section 7 Sub committee 17.00 to 19.00
The full Plenary will be Friday & Saturday.

Bids for future championships will be presented Friday afternoon, and votes to award the championships will be on Saturday morning.

World Pilot Rankings Update 1st December 2002

As the year rolls to a close, here is a brief summary of Category 2 competitions: In 2002 there will have been 107 Cat 2 sanctioned comps;
52 PG
42 HG
10 Acc
13 C2/5
(some competitions ran more than one class)

This update has had 2 Precision PG comps, 1 Paragliding comp (5 deleted), 1 HG comp added.

PARAGLIDING ACCURACY
Competitions added are the Greek PG Accuracy, UK PG Accuracy nationals.

Matjaz Feraric (SLO) still leads from his fellow Slovenians; Matjaz Sluga and Simeon Klokocovnik.

Slovenia still leads but GBR leap into 2nd place followed by Yugoslavia and Macedonia. Croatia & Bulgaria hold 5th & 6th but Greece make a welcome entry at 7th with Austria in 8th.

HANG GLIDING (Class 1)
The St Bernards Canungra Classic was added plus corrections to the Nordic HG Open. Results of the Korean HG League were not received, so were NOT added.

There are no changes to the top 10 with Manfred Ruhmer (AUT) still leading.

In the nations ranking there is very little change, Austria remains in 1st place, Germany 2nd and France 3rd. The UK stays 4th but Australia regains 5th from Spain.

PARAGLIDING
The PWC in Korea was added. Results from the Copa Ruitoque have not been received so are NOT added. Deleted are; Spanish Nationals (Algodonales); Pre-PWC Turkey; Slovenian Nationals; Bavarian Open; PWC Greece.

The top 10 stays the same with Steve Cox (SUI) leading.

In the nations ranking Switzerland lead but Austria take 2nd from France. Germany, Japan, Great Britain and South Africa keep 3rd-6th but New Zealand move up to 7th deposing Italy, Korea and Czechoslovakia to complete the top 10.

CLASS 5
Christian Ciech (ITA) still leads in 1st place, the rest of the top 10 stay the same except Ralf Miederhoff (GER) and Bernd Weber (GER) move up a place as Rene Leiser (SUI) drops to 13th. Alessandro Ploner (ITA) 2nd and Johann Posch (AUT) 3rd. Check the FAI website at http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/rankings/class5/

There is no change to the Nations rankings, USA still leads.

CLASS 2
No changes, Brian Porter remains in 1st only 1 point ahead of Manfred Ruhmer
(AUT) in 2nd. Robin Hamilton (GBR) is 1 point behind in 3rd.

QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS

Paragliding
Forthcoming paragliding competitions that qualify for WPRS points are: Category 2: La Palma Open; All Africa PG Champs; Bright PG Champs; Australian PG Open; New Zealand Nationals; Russian Open (Austria): South African Nats Category 1; PG Worlds (Portugal) 2003; Asian Championship (2004)
