Zeppelin 75th Anniversary Flight
FAI learned with interest of the commemorative flight currently being undertaken by the new Zeppelin NT gas airship "Youkoso Japan". The airship departed from Friedrichshafen (GER) on 13 June and, after covering a total distance of more than 15'000 km, will land at its new homebase in Japan by mid-August.
This ferry flight is probably one of the most ambitious airship projects since World War II. In a message to the flight crew, FAI Secretary General Max BISHOP pointed out that this flight visiting formerly belligerent states in a spirit of friendship, could be seen as a powerful symbol for the reconciliation and willingness to work together of the peoples of the world.
