From Helsinki to Cape Town with a motor glider

IGC Vice-President Tapio Savolainen, a Boeing 757 pilot from Finland, and businessmann Anssi Soila will be starting from Helsinki on August 27 on a 13,000 km flight to Cape Town. Their aircraft: Anssi Soila's Stemme S10-VT. Their plan is to use as little fuel as possible by exploiting soaring conditions as available.

1st World Women Gliding Championship results

Photo by Klaus LubkeThis Championship took place in Pociunai, Lithuania with 12 countries represented and 41 participating pilots.
Gillian Spreckley (GBR) won the World Champion title in the 15m Class, while Sarah Steinbeck (GBR) finished first in the Standard class and Tamara Sviridova (RUS) in the Club class.
