The International Gliding Commission (IGC) of the FAI decided in 2001 to establish diplomas for distance flights of more than 1000km, by increments of 250 kilometers. Since the validity of this decision, the flight of Mr Delore is the first one submitted to FAI.
His flight took place the 1st March 2002 in New Zealand with a LS-6c. The total distance flown was 1'465.7km.
Mr Delore is also holding diploma number 48 for 1000km flight and number 2 for 2000km, for which only two pilots received this great award.

11/04/2002 | Posted by Peter at 06:44 PM

Annex B to the Gliding Section (Section 3) of the FAI Sporting Code has been thoroughly revised by the IGC subcommittee led by Bernald Smith and Ian Strachan. Annex B lays down technical procedures and standards for the control of gliding performances. The new version was approved by the IGC at its meeting in Lausanne in March, and the old version has now been replaced on the FAI site. Section 3 of the Sporting Code and the annexes can be accessed through the IGC documents page.
