In this paper entitled "Transponders and Gliding - Good or evil? A summary of the pro's and con's, without too much detail", Fransois van Haaff, former EGU President, gives a precise summary of the technical background, disusses the possible advantages and disadvantages of transponders in gliders and briefly describes possible future developments. Good background reading for all those involved in the discussion about transponders and gliding.
