IPC Artistic Events Committee
Report Open Meeting 2002

EVENTS 2002

World Cup Austria + Open EPC Spain.
Explanation as to why there were two separate events in 2002. Reasons: more competitions, good bids from organisers and to test separate events. All in line with the IPC Mission Plan.
Tentative conclusions: lower attendance (non European teams WC only), expensive for competitors (if attending 2 events), long travel and attendance time for teams, good exposure for events.

OLYMPICS / WORLD GAMES

Olympic bid IPC for 2008 Beijing not accepted. The Olympic policy of IPC is to be evaluated at the IPC meeting 2003.

World Games 2001 Japan: parachuting best event with highest number of public. Good exposure and used in the presentation for the Olympic bid. Next World Games: 2005 Duisburg, Germany (FS4, accuracy, AE event), 102 athletes maximum.

COMPETITION RULES 2003

The following decisions were taken during this Open Meeting, to be proposed for 2003:

General:
  • 1 video camera only to be allowed.
    • Finals: will include a compulsory round
      (2001 system, 7 jumps total, 4 qualification + 3 final rounds)
      no more resetting to 0
  • Working time: no changes
  • Addendum B: define sit position.
  • Addendum C: add atmonauti and carving.
Compulsories:
  • Freestyle: to include a tracking / atmonauti sequence.
  • Skysurfing: change compulsory SK-1 (BBF)
Speed round freeflying:
  • Better description of moves.
  • Bust: will stay at 0 points, deduction for omission & total separation failure
  • Maximum 35 seconds working time, for safety reasons.
Compulsories FR &SK:
  • no more separate score for camera, just 1 score per compulsory sequence.

JUDGING

Judging can be faster, mostly through a better logistical system of dubbing, tape transportation and use of harddisk (no VHS tapes). In general, scores were available 1 to 1,5 minutes after the second viewing. This judging time is acceptable.
No specialised judes for criteria in 2003: However, a test event will be tried to be held in summer 2003 in Europe.
Forseable future for less criteria (eg. technical and artistic criteria only).

MUNDIAL 2003 GAP - TALLARD, FRANCE

September 7 - 14, entry fee does not include lodging and dinner.
Dubbing, proposal: no actual dubbing in line, but video tapes to be handed over to organisers after the jump. Camera´s must allow for this. Information through: www.mondial03.com

EVENTS 2004 - 2005

No bids for 2004: this year will be a World Parachuting Championship. 2005: possible WAG, no bid yet, organisation structure under current evaluation by FAI World Games Duisburg, July 2005
