9th FAI European Formation Skydiving Championships & 16th FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving, Prostejov 2009
Saturday, 5th September 2009 By noon the competition was over - a protest-free meet - and a complete meet in all events! Congratulations to all the athletes who competed and particularly to the medal winners!
8.00 a.m. and a huge blue hole has appeared out of the grey over the airfield. Will this be the first FS World meet to complete since 2005 ? - we really believe it may be. At the end of the 9th (Semi-Final) Round, France, Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge is still in the lead, scoring 22 points making a total of 209 - in second place is Belgium, Hayabuse who scored a clear 25 points giving them a total of 198 and in third place still is Italy, Sinapsi having scored 18 points giving them a total of 187, now three points ahead of the Russian team Black Cat who scored 21 with a total of 184. There are 8 more jumps to complete the Final Round in both the World Cup and European Championship.
IT'S IN THE BAG - THE MEET HAS CONCLUDED - LET THE PARTYING BEGIN!!! And it did, but not until after the closing ceremony which matched the excellent meet orgnaisation. It was held in the Tennis stadium, so all the competitors, officials and friends could sit in banked seating and watch the ceremony taking place on the court area. The odd bottle of champagne was sprayed over the winners and the FUN flag appeared in the hands of the Belgium Team ... removed from the French tent? The competition was finally closed by the FAI Controller and IPC Representative, Dr. Rainer (EXI) Hoenle. We have posted the pictures under the "closing ceremony" tag. Each delegation and official was handed a bound copy of the results and a CD with a load of photographs from the competion - some of which we have taken for this site. The ceremony was followed by a superb banquet - lots of excellent food - a "cocktails" bar where you could order a "Sex on the Beach" or an "Orgasm", amongst others. We were also treated to an amazing fireworks display.
