Saturday 13th March. 16.10 The final day of the competition started with a beautiful clear sky. The town of Predazzo requested that the jumps on Saturday be done in town so an area was prepared and snow brought in to built up the slope for the landing pad. A large tent was installed and packing was done on the track of the local sports stadium, 100 mtrs away. Unfortunately the start was delayed due to the cold and the pad had to be warmed up to get rid of the ice. Jumping started almost an hour later than planned and two rounds were done quite quickly. The wind picked up towards the end of the third round of the day and the fifth round in total. The german team who was in the lead had a rejump and unfortunately lost their place. The first team of the 6th round also had a rejump. Jumping was stopped for an hour or so. The wind finally died down enough for the germans to do their 5th jump after which the competition was declared finished since there was not enough time to do another round. A competitors meeting was held after the competition. The closing ceremony wlll be held in the town square this evening at 7pm followed by a dinner at the Barracks of the Guarda Finanzia. Friday, 12th March. 17.00 Only two rounds of accuracy were completed today due to difficult weather conditions, cloud. The forecast is better for tomorrow.
Thursday, 11th March, 16.00. The two ski runs were made today, with the German Team leading. The weather conditions in the afternoon did not improve and there was no jumping. An interesting competitor, 15 years after his last Para-Ski competition Graeme Windsor, IPC President is competing in the Masters category. Wednesday, 10th March. Bad weather all day, so no jumping - start with the Ski runs tomorrow.
Thanks to Gill Winter IPC 1st Vice President for sending the reports to me each day, despite difficult internet connections. |
