Cypres 2 AAD Airtec Safety Systems - Service Bulletin, April 2008Airtec Bulletin Number – C2 0408, issued 21.04.08 Concerning – Cypres 2 units from production period August 2006 to October 2006. Units in question are:- 667 Expert, 50 Student, 72 Tandem, 1 Speed. A listing of the serial numbers of the units effected is to be found in the Airtec bulletin, C2 0408, which is appended to this Information Notice. Background – The following is Airtec’s statement:-‘Earlier this year we experienced two unwanted activations in Australia. Nobody was hurt. Both units have been examined extensively at Airtec, with the finding that a defective sensor caused the activation in both cases. As both units passed the more than 14 days period manufacturing testing process without any noticeable problems, we must assume that it is possible that there are more units of this production batch in use with a similar sensor defect. As a precaution, we have decided to recall all potentially affected CYPRES 2 units for a preventive sensor replacement. Status of Bulletin – Airtec declared the status of their Bulletin to be Mandatory Airtec Service Bulletin direction – ‘Please compare the serial number of each CYPRES 2 with the attached list. Note that it is not necessary to open the reserve container, as it is easy to check the CYPRES 2 serial number on the display. (See your CYPRES 2 User Guide for more info.)In case your unit is effected, please forward it to Airtec – Germany, or to SSK Industries in the US. All necessary work will be done as quickly as possible and free of charge, including return shipment. As compensation Airtec will include a cheque in the amount of $70.00 US for each affected unit upon its return. Treated units will wear a sticker and have a certification. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, however we feel it is necessary to ensure your safety.’ Compliance date - Effective immediately, before the next jump.
