Gill Winter, 1st Vice-President IPC
Years in Skydiving: 26 Number of Jumps:"not as many as I would have liked" 1st Vice-President IPC IPC Delegate for France Chair Sporting Code Working Group Member of the Canopy Piloting Committee Advisor to the Canopy Formation Committee Past Technical Secretary of the IPC Founder President of the EPU I became an instructor and worked as a volunteer within the sport for many years both instructing and politically at the French Parachute Federation. I participated at all the International Technical Congresses that the IPC organised in the past. Hopefully this activity will be picked up again in a year or two so that we can fulfil our objective of providing a forum for the exchange of information and discussion on mutual parachuting safety problems. In addition to this, the role of the Technical and Safety Committee is to co-ordinate FAI Member countries’ activities to further the development of the technical and safety aspects of parachuting throughout the world. To promote international standards and medical requirements for sport parachuting and to assemble, analyse and disseminate such information and statistics on parachuting activities in the FAI Member’s countries as can contribute to the improvement of equipment, training methods and to parachuting safety. Data has been collated for a number of years by Liam McNulty and provided to member nations for their use. Liam has done and continues to do a wonderful job. The data related to fatalities and use of AODs however, in 2006 we intent to extend this and to introduce an anonymous on-line data collection facility with usage restricted to designated people in each country. This data should enable us to better analyse accidents and incidents that do not necessarily have such dire consequences but need to be prevented. We also intend to disseminate bulletins received from manufacturers to ensure that they are received as widely as possible. This will be done as a service without any additional remarks or comments to ensure total impartiality. When asked what she felt was her greatest achievement; what had given her the most pleasure – she answered «Being known as a reliable hard worker for skydiving, both internationally and nationally». |
