Practical guidelines for organisers of competitions

CIVL have recently published "Practical Guidelines for Organisers of FAI/CIVL Competitions". This document has been drawn up in collaboration with the Paragliding World Cup Association (PWCA) and Federation Francaise de Vol Libre (FFVL). Nanou Berger (FFVL National Technical Advisor) and Xavier Murillo (PWCA Technical Advisor) produced the original French version of this document. Olivier Burghelle (CIVL President) adapated it to suit FAI/CIVL competitions, and Sarah Fenwick (CIVL PR Co-ordinator) translated it into English.

The document contains a wealth of helpful advice and tips for all competition organisers covering; safety, task choice, turn points, launching and landing, goal set up, retrieve, organisation of headquarters and staff, sample documents, etc.. It is anticipated this will be a valuable document for all competition organisers from local club competitions to world meets.

The document is available for all to browse or download as a text file from : http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/documents/

It is a working document and will be updated on a regular basis. In line with FAI/CIVL's committment to improve media coverage and marketing of competitions there will soon be a chapter on marketing and the media.

Feedback and suggestions for improvements to this document are welcome and should be addressed to Sarah Fenwick (civl@ukonline.co.uk) or Olivier Burghelle (olivier.burghelle@wanadoo.fr).
