CIVL World Pilot Ranking Scheme - latest Update

The latest World Pilot Ranking Scheme (WPRS) for hang gliding, paragliding and Class 2 has just been published.

No competitions have been dropped since the last WPRS publication (competitions over the last 18 months are valid). The are currently 374 hang glider pilots, 400 paragider pilots and 8 Class 2 pilots in the World Pilot Rankings. A couple of spelling errors on results sheets which caused two pilots (Betinho Schmidt (HG) and Olivier Rossel (PG)) to each have two WPRS records have been identified and these have been corrected.

In hang gliding new competitions included are the Wallaby Open, USA and US HG Nationals. Manfred Ruhmer still leads with 296 points ahead of Oleg Bondarchuk 287, Gerolf Heinrichs 286 and Guido Gehrmann 285). The only newcomer to the top 10 is Andre Wolf (10th) at the expense of Christof Kratzner who has dropped to 11th. Niki Hamilton still heads the females in 48th, with Francoise Mocellin 63rd and Marie Jo Rufat 77th. Betinho (Carlos) Schmidt's two scores combined bring him to 24th position.

The paragliding ranking sees the addition of the PWC Monte Cornizzolo competition and the Argentinian Open. Kari Eisenhut has taken the lead with 268 points ahead of Christian Tamegger (265) and Jimmy Pacher (258). Olivier Rossel's two scores combined bring him up into the 7th place. David Dagault just gets into the top 10 at 10th (from 23rd). Those falling out of the top 10 are Kaspar Henny (11th) and Rob Whittall (14th). Claire Bernier still heads the female rankings in 44th followed by Sandie Cochepain (51) and Louise Crandal (68).

The Class 2 season in the USA is well under way with two comps; the Wallaby Open and US Nationals. Brian Porter still heads the ranking with 15 points, ahead of Davd Sharp (11) and Davis Straub (10).
