The 2nd World Air Games are now over !

Andalucia proved to be a very interesting playground for air sports that participated in the 2nd World Air Games that ended on Sunday 01 July. Paragliders experienced ceilings of over 4000 metres, more than 7000 jumps were made in Granada at the parachuting championships and gliders enjoyed rates of climb in excess of 6 metres per second.

POWERED PARAGLIDERS
The pilots from the Spanish team have taken the first four places of the championship, with Ramon Morillas becoming the new WAG and World PPG Champion. Spain also wins the gold team medal, ahead of the Czech Republic and Russia.

Olivier Darroze (FRA) won in the World Class and Steven JONES (GBR) in the 18m Class.

Alexandr PANFIEROV from Russia is the new World and WAG Champion, while Poland finished first team.

Antonio Marchesi (ESP) for Aerodynamically Controlled, Single Seat
Philippe Zen and Thomas Knowles (FRA) for Aerodynamically Controlled, Two Seats
Endre Thuroczy (HUN) for Weightshift Control, Single Seat
Samir Elari and Cathy Amalric (FRA) for Weightshift Control, Two Seats

Masahiko FUJITA (Japan) is the new Hot Air Balloon World Air Games Champion. Klaus Wesgerber and Astrid Gerhardt from Germany are the new Gas Balloon World Air Games Champions.

POWERED AEROBATICS
Mikhail Mamistov from Russia is the new World and WAG Champion. Svetlanna Kapannina (also from Russia) won the Women World and WAG titles. Winning Men team is Russia.
Klaus Shrodt from Germany won the Programme 4.

PARAGLIDING
Luca Donini from Italy is the new World and WAG Champion. Louise Crandal finishes first in the Women ranking and Switzerland takes the Team Gold Medal.

HANG GLIDING
Manfred Ruhmer and Austria take the gold medal in Class 1, while Alessandro Ploner and Italy finish first in Class 2. Full results have been published

PARACHUTING
Full results are now published. Russia dominated these championships by winning 7 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.

GENERAL AVIATION

The 2nd WAG in General aviation competitions will take place in Cordoba and run from 24 to 30 June.

There are two different disciplines in General Aviation : Rally and Precision Flying, both of which will be included in the WAG.
The competitions will consist in the the 12th World Air Rally Championship and the 10th European Precision Flight Championship. These will also be World Air Games Championships, and Wag Champion titles will be awarded as well to the winners.
