8th Paragliding European Championship postponed

CIVL regret to advise that the 8th European Paragliding Championship at Kalavrita cannot be held at the originally designated dates due to NATO forces forbidding flying. NATO is responsible for the safety of the Olympic Games in Athens and security has been increased after the Madrid bombings. [ MORE... ]


WPRS Update April 2004

This is the last update to Hang Gliding using the current WPRS system. The new system can be viewed at http://rankings.fai.org/hanggliding/wprs/ Pilots are urged to check their rankings and competition results and send any amendments to paula@fai.org Scotty Marion (USA) remains in the top place and there is another sad tribute in the Womens Paragliding ranking with Jillian Borst in 2nd. Manfred Ruhmer (AUT) leads the Hang Gliding ranking and Andy Shaw (UK) the Precision Paragliding. [ MORE... ]

A poignant tribute to a talented pilot, Scotty Marion (USA) reaches the number 1 place in the Paragliding ranking. Brian Porter (USA) leads the Class 2, David Chaumet the Class 5 and Manfred Ruhmer Class 1, but there are interesting changes to most rankings. [ MORE... ]

PARAGLIDING Added were the Belguim Flatland, Pedro Bernardo, La Palma. Results still not received so NOT added: Tropheo Montegrappa, X Copa Pirineus, Greek Open (Amfikela), Portuguese Open, Brazil Nationals, Algodonales Nationals. Deleted were the French Open, Nordic Cup (Austria), Pian Delle Betulle, Porto da Espada, Portugese Moncorvo, Slovenian Open, Spanish Open (Ager). The Jaen Open and the Swiss PG Champs have not been added yet. Alex Hofer (SUI) still leads, Norman Lausch (GER) stays 2nd and Helmut Eicholzer (AUT) 3rd. Achim Joos (GER) goes to 4th swopping places with Jean-Marc Caron (FRA) in 5th. Jimmy Pacher (ITA) stays 6th, Kaoru... [ MORE... ]

CIVL Bureau Meeting November 2003

The minutes of the CIVL Bureau meeting ending 2nd November 2003 are now published at http://www.fai.org/hang_gliding/meetings/ Items included in the minutes are information on drugs testing, FAI Centenary celebrations, reviews of major championships, minimum standards in Cat 2 competitions, Section 7 changes, FAI Licences and nationality, new WPRS.
