Drone racing - one of the fastest-growing sports in the world - saw its development stopped by the COVID pandemic in 2020.

The 2019 edition of the FAI Drone Racing World Cup was the most exciting yet, with hundreds of pilots participating in 23 competitions (Challenger Series) around the world.

2019 also saw the launch of a new Masters Series of events designed to attract elite drone racers from across the globe. The new Masters Series was part of the FAI Drone Racing World Cup and was run in addition to the existing Challenger Series.

The 2019 season culminated in the FAI World Drone Racing Championship Grand Final which took place at in Xiangshan Ningbo, China, from 11 to 14 December - the most thrilling drone racing competition of the year.

In 2019 the FAI also added Drone Soccer to its Sporting Code as a provisional class. A first demonstration international tournament took place in Korea, as part of the 2019 FAI Jeonju World Drone Masters.

Due to the COVID pandemic, it has not been possible to hold the FAI Drone Racing World Cup and World Drone Racing Championship Grand Final in 2020 and 2021.

We hope that 2022 will give us the possibility to recommence these intense and electrifying competitions, stay tuned!
