FAI Medico-Physiological Commission 2016 Annual Meeting – Main Decisions and Discussions

The 2016 Annual Meeting of the FAI Medico-Physiological Commission (CIMP) was held from 03 to 05 June 2016 at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Please find below the main decisions and discussions during the meeting:

Discussions

  • The Delegates discussed the Clinical Aviation Medicine and Regulations
  • The participants looked into recommendations and advice to Flight Safety in Air-Sport
  • The participants were informed about the follow up of the FAI Anti-Doping Program The EASA and FAA Developments were mentioned
  • It was also emphasized on the success on the FAI Aero Medical Symposium, which has been organised during the FAI World Air Games Dubai 2015. It was agreed, that during the next edition of the FAI World Air Games another Symposium should definitely be organised

Decisions

The TUE panel has been reelected (with the addition of one new member) as it has been agreed that the participants involved are contributing a lot.

About Dr. GARRISON, newly elected CIMP President:

ems-richard-garrison pp-214x300Dr. Garrison is an active glider, fixed wing and helicopter pilot. A senior Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), United States Air Force (USAF) Flight Surgeon and Professor for Aerospace Medicine and Flight Clinic Director at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Additionally he is member of the Experimental Aircraft Association “Aeromedical Advisory Committee of Oshkosh Wisconsin. He is resident in Dayton, Ohio.

 

Next Meeting

The next Annual Meeting of the FAI Medico-Physiological Commission will be held during the 65th International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine (ICASM) 2017 in Rome, Italy.
