Honouring the Heli Heroes: HWC 2018 Final

A crowd of 40,000 fans were treated to thrilling displays of skilled manoeuvres as crews battled to win a place on the podium in the fourth and final stage of the Helicopter World Cup 2018.

After 3 stages of the Helicopter World Cup 2018, this final competition was a challenging showdown with 27 crews from 5 countries - Austria, Belarus, Poland, Russia and Ukraine – competing in General and Masters classes.

The competition was held in Minsk’s Borovaya Airfield, Belarus, as part of the air sports festival, ‘ProNebo 2018’, which was opened by a fantastic aerobatic display by the national Belarus team and included flyovers by a range of aircraft and displays of skydiving and parachuting.

The crowd was delighted to see Belarus’ Uladzimir Buhayeu and Andrei Rogonov take 1st place in the 4th stage General Class Slalom, meaning a bronze in the overall HWC 2018 General Class.

The invincible partnership of Yury Yablokov and Konstantin Podoinitsyn (RUS) showed awe-inspiring technical ability and gained a gold as overall HWC 2018 winners.
