Paragliding XC Worlds 2021 - Team size 5 instead of 4

The CIVL Bureau and the organizers took the decision to increase the team size. Now the maximum number of pilots constituting a national team is 5 including 4 of the same gender. At the preparation stage of the event, it was foreseen that some nations will not attend so the number of pilots per team can be increased. The local rules of the event tell “The maximum number of pilots constituting a national team is 4 including 3 of the same gender. This may be adjusted after the second allocation if it is observed that most nations have more than 4 pilots selected”.

On having observed that the top 24 nations of the WPRS (except Australia) can compete with the new team size and in Overall, 24 nations can compete with the new team size the Bureau took the decision to increase the team. Also, it is a known fact, that pilots would rather be scoring for “individual and team” than just for “individual”.
