Colombia takes gold at PG Accuracy World Games Test Event

After a nail-biting 6th and final round, top Colombian pilot, Ricardo Gomez gained first place in the Paragliding Accuracy World Games Test Event, which concluded successfully on Saturday in Cali, Colombia. Andy Shaw (GBR) took silver, and Miguel Martinez (COL) was in third place.

The final round was flown in reverse order on Saturday morning, with the top 4 pilots flying last, and each in a position to win the competition.  A light morning breeze had given way to strong thermals and an increasing upper wind, making conditions particularly tricky.  In 2nd place after round five, Marketa Tomaskova (CZE), just missed a podium position, taking fourth place overall, and top female pilot.

The parachuting canopy piloting competition also concluded on Saturday after four rounds each of distance and accuracy runs, and concluding with a round of freestyle jumps.

A combined prize giving ceremony, complete with an impressive salsa dancing demonstration, was held at the Marco Fidel Suarez Air Force base that evening.
