FAI President Dr. John Grubbström had the great honour to be awarded with the Juri Gagarin Medal at the CIAM meeting that recently took place in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The medal was presented by Russian Representative Andre Pomorenko on behalf of the Russian Airsports Federation in commemoration of the close association of the Russian Airsports Federation and the FAI since Yuri Gagarin's "first man in space" flight on 12th April 1961 which was recognised by the FAI as a World Record.

The Russian Airsports Federation wished to commemorate both the fiftieth anniversary of the flight and the association between the Russian Airsports Federation and the FAI.
