Mondial - Competition day 5

Same old, same old - very low clouds and a cold wind, at least in the morning in Kemerovo. The buses left one hour later than planned. Unfortunately, the conditions looked the same at the Dropzone when everybody arrived, but spirits were again lifted by the enthusiastic and friendly cheering from the volunteers.

Today was once again Covid Testing for everyone.

A Team Leaders‘ meeting was postponed by an hour. We all hoped for the clouds to lift just a little bit, but the cloudbase remained static at around 600 m and would not budge.

The next meeting did not bring any better news. Luckily for us, some local volunteers are very good singers and entertained everybody with their traditional folksongs and dancing in the open air.

Before the singers‘ presentation started, there came the sound of aircraft engines! All three An-2s warmed up their big radial engines, but they did not take off…..

There is one round needed for men‘s accuracy and two rounds for female accuracy to get an official competition, which is 5 rounds. Style is already valid after one round.

Tomorrow is the last chance here in Kemorovo, with the last take-off scheduled for 14.00.

Everything is crossed as the weather forecast looks really good!

At the Dropzone in Tanay competitors patiently waited for the sky to clear, unfortunatly that did not happened.

Since it was the last competition day it was very disappointing that the CP Freestyle competitors was not able to jump. The 2nd FAI World Championship of Canopy Piloting Freestyle has been declared null and void.

The first part of the Mondial, comprising World Championships for Formation Skydiving, Canopy Piloting, Canopy Piloting Freestyle and Speed Skydiving have now been concluded.
