World Drone Racing Championship (WDRC)

Drone Racing sport had been introcuced in FAI on 1st January 2016 with an annual World Cup based on a Series of Open International events organised in different countries.

In addition, a FAI World Drone Racing Championship (WDRC) had been introduced in 2018. After a bidding process, the FAI WDRC had been awarded to the Aero Sports Federation of China (ASFC) for three consecutive years. The first edition had been held in Shenzhen from 1st to 4th November 2018, and the second edition in Xiangshan, Ningbo city from 11th to 14th December 2019.

Due to Covid, there had been no FAI WDRC organised from 2020 to 2022. The 3rd FAI WDRC had been awarded to the Korea Aero Models Association (KAMA) supported by the Federation of Korea Aeronautics (FKA), and held in Namwon city from 6th to 9th October 2023.

The 4th FAI WDRC with be organised again by ASFC in People's Republic of China from 31th October to 3rd November 2024 in Hangzhou which the capital and most popoulos city of the Zhejiang Province. Hangzhou is located in the north eastern part of the province sitting at the head of Hangzhou Bay which separates Shanghai and Ningbo, and is 180 kilometers from Shanghai and 1260 kilometers from Beijing.

The competition will be held on the football stadium of the Shangcheng District Sports Center. Shangcheng District lies beside Hangzhou's famous West Lake and includes the territory of the former imperial Chinese cities of Qiantang and Lin'an, the imperial capital of the Song dynasty from 1138 to 1276.
