1981 Worlds Hang Gliding Class 1 and 2 Championship in Beppu, Japan

 

The Competition was held in Beppu Japan from 25 September till 12 October 1981.

Almost half the ll-day competition was non-flyable due to inclement weather, with only 7 rounds of competition flown in Class I and 6 rounds in Class II. The final two days produced four completed rounds.

The winners of the championship are:

Class 1

  1. Pedro Paulo Lopez (BRA)
  2. Richard Pfeiffer (USA)
  3. Graham Stater (GBR)

Class 2:

  1. Graeme Bird (NZL)
  2. Walter Lussi (SUI)
  3. Hang Poscher (AUT)
